Atomis was commissioned to supply the lighting for Genmab’s new, high-quality research facility in Utrecht. Genmab focuses on the development of innovative antibody-based therapeutic products, with the aim of improving the lives of patients with serious diseases, including cancer. An environment in which research, collaboration and concentration are central requires lighting that is functional, reliable and sustainable.
The new location in Utrecht consists of a combination of offices, laboratories and various facility spaces, including a Science Café, Plaza and Auditorium. Each space has its own use and dynamics, and therefore places specific demands on the light. Within this project, Atomis has ensured a consistent and comfortable lighting solution that matches both the technical and architectural principles of the building.
In the office environments, the lighting is tailored to long-term and intensive use. Good light distribution, minimal glare and a pleasant light color contribute to a pleasant working atmosphere and support focus and productivity. In the laboratories, where accuracy and safety are essential, stable and uniform light has been chosen to guarantee optimum visibility and contribute to reliable research conditions.
The facility spaces play an important role in meeting and knowledge sharing within the building. In the Science Café and the Plaza, the lighting creates an open and inviting atmosphere, while in the Auditorium attention has been paid to flexibility and comfort, suitable for presentations and meetings. By using the same high light quality in all areas, a coherent whole is created that radiates peace and professionalism.
Fusion-K climate ceiling luminaires were used for this project. These luminaires are fully integrated into the climate ceilings and combine lighting with a sleek and calm ceiling image. This not only contributes to visual comfort, but also to the efficiency and sustainability of the building. The integration of light and climate makes it possible to subtly conceal technology without compromising performance or ease of maintenance.
The project was realized in collaboration with a strong team of partners. The installation technology was provided by Deerns, the architectural design by Cepezed and the energy and installation advice by DWA. Thanks to the close collaboration between all parties involved, the lighting could be optimally adapted to the architecture, installations and daily use of the building.
Atomis looks back with pride on this project for Genmab in Utrecht. The result is a modern research environment in which high-quality lighting contributes to comfort, functionality and the support of groundbreaking scientific work.
