The Neighborhood Service Center Vleuten – De Meern has undergone a complete renovation and now presents itself as a fresh, contemporary, and accessible place for the neighborhood. The building houses offices, the municipal hall, and the library, among other facilities. These functions, each with their own dynamics and requirements, come together in one cohesive design.
The renovation was commissioned by the Municipality of Utrecht, in close collaboration with UP Architecture and Van Schaik Elektrotechniek Harmelen. From the start, lighting played a central role in the design. Not only functionally, but also as a means to create atmosphere, recognition, and comfort.
For the municipal hall and the library, the Zumo 60 Vario White was chosen. This fixture offers great flexibility and ensures a pleasant balance between functional light and an agreeable experience. Ideal for spaces where both work and reading take place, and where visitors should feel welcome.
Above the service desks, the Lightscape Track was applied. This lighting solution enhances the visibility and hospitality of the desks and contributes to a clear, professional appearance. Visitors can find their way more easily, and employees work under optimal light.
A well-considered mix of fixtures was used for the office spaces: Metronome-M, Meson Pro, Meson Pro-C, Zumo 60 Vario White and Zender. This combination ensures good task lighting with an eye for comfort and energy efficiency. Each space receives precisely the light that suits its use and desired atmosphere.
Thanks to the carefully selected and coordinated lighting solutions, the Neighborhood Service Center Vleuten – De Meern has evolved into a modern, energy-efficient, and future-proof environment. A place where residents, employees, and visitors feel comfortable, and where functionality and appearance go hand in hand.
