Seats2Meet

Seats2Meet is located in the iconic LocHal building in Tilburg’s Spoorzone, a place where meeting, working, learning, and sharing are central. The LocHal itself is a remarkable example of repurposing. A former railway workshop has been transformed into an open, public space where culture, knowledge, and entrepreneurship converge. Within this dynamic environment, Seats2Meet requested a lighting solution that is both functional and architecturally supportive, without overshadowing the building’s inherent power.

The design of the LocHal comes from Braaksma & Roos Architecten BV, known for their careful handling of heritage and existing structures. The enormous height, industrial materials, and openness of the building place high demands on lighting. Here, light must not only be sufficient and comfortable but also contribute to orientation, atmosphere, and user flexibility. Arup acted as a consultant, balancing technology, comfort, and sustainability.

Atomis was commissioned to supply the lighting for Seats2Meet, with the Myos-S2 pendant luminaire chosen. These luminaires are used in the 90×1710 dimension and are designed as multi-optic up/down. This means the luminaire emits light both downwards and upwards. The downward light provides pleasant and efficient task lighting on tables and workstations, while the upward light contributes to the spaciousness and enhances the view of the LocHal’s impressive roof structure.

The choice for Myos-S2 perfectly aligns with the open and flexible way of working that Seats2Meet facilitates. The luminaires have a sleek and understated design, seamlessly fitting the industrial character of the building. At the same time, they deliver high-quality light, essential in an environment where people work, meet, and present for extended periods. Thanks to the multi-optic design, the light can be adjusted to different zones and functions within the same space.

The electrical installation for the project was provided by BINX Smartility, known for smart and future-oriented installations. Through excellent collaboration between the architect, consultant, installer, and Atomis, an integrated lighting concept was realized that does justice to both the building and its use.

The end result is an inspiring work environment where light brings calm and focus, without disturbing the dynamics of the LocHal. The lighting supports encounters, productivity, and experience. Exactly what Seats2Meet stands for.
