BREEAM and BENG in lighting projects: how Atomis contributes

Sustainable building is no longer a niche topic. With certifications like BREEAM and legal requirements like BENG, buildings must be designed to be ever more energy-efficient and environmentally conscious. Lighting is an underestimated but important factor in this.

What are BREEAM and BENG?

BREEAM is an international assessment method for the sustainability of buildings, scoring aspects such as energy, health and material use. BENG (Nearly Energy-Neutral Buildings) is the Dutch legal requirement that strictly limits the energy use of new buildings. Both set concrete demands on energy performance - and therefore on lighting too.

Why lighting counts

Lighting determines a significant share of energy use in offices and public buildings. Energy-efficient LED, smart lighting control (DALI-2, daylight and presence control) and a well-considered lighting plan reduce consumption considerably. This directly contributes to BENG scores and to BREEAM credits for energy and comfort.

How Atomis contributes
