Don’t replace. Renew.
Why replace an entire luminaire when the base can last for years to come? In the lighting world we talk a lot about sustainability and circularity. But in our view, circularity does not begin with making something new. It begins with looking at what is already there.
At Atomis architectural lighting we develop and produce architectural lighting in the Netherlands. But a completely new luminaire is by no means always the best solution.
Depending on the project, there are various options:
Refurbishment
The existing housing is retained. We renew the technology with, for example, new LED modules, drivers and other components. This allows an existing luminaire to last for many more years.
Retrofit | existing housing, new look
The housing or base of the existing luminaire is retained, but we bring the luminaire up to date both technically and visually. A new appearance, without having to replace everything.
Retrofit | existing housing and original look retained
Sometimes the original design is precisely part of the building or interior. In that case we retain both the housing and the characteristic appearance, while fully modernising the technology on the inside.
The result?
Less material use. Less waste. Modern lighting performance. A longer service life. And where desired: preservation of the original architecture.
Not automatically replacing. First looking at what we can keep.
Because perhaps the most circular luminaire is the one that is already there.
